At present, the hospital has developed into a large-scale modern and comprehensive hospital of Chinese medicine, which combines 7 hospitals (Dade Road General Hospital, Ersha Island Hospital, Fangcun Hospital < Guangzhou Charity Hospital >, Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Centre Hospital, Zhuhai Hospital < Zhuhai Municipal Hospital of Chinese Medicine >, Pazhou Hospital < Guangzhou United Family Hospital > ), 3 outpatient departments (Xiatang Outpatient Department, Tianhe Outpatient Department, Shijing Outpatient Department), 1 trusteeship hospital (Doumen Qiaoli Hospital of Chinese Medicine, Zhuhai <Doumen Hospital of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine>). Meanwhile, there is Nansha Hospital under construction.
We have been continuously enhanced the comprehensive capabilities of service , with a total of 3,145 beds, more than 7,000 employees, and modern medical and scientific equipments worth more than 3 billion yuan. The annual number of patients served has ranked first among the hospitals of Chinese medicine in China for more than 20 consecutive years. In 2022, the number of outpatients was 6.25 billions and while the number of inpatients was more than 150 thousand.
The hospital is the largest hospital of Chinese medicine in China, and has ranked first in the National Competitiveness Ranking of Hospitals of Chinese Medicine for 8 consecutive years. The hospital is the National Pilot Hospital for Establishing and Improving the Modern Hospital Management System, one in the First Batch of Key Units for the Construction of High-level Hospitals in Guangdong, one of the Export Hospitals for the Construction of Nation’s Regional Medical Centre, one in the First Batch of "Tutoring" Construction Units of National Clinical Centre of Chinese Medicine. The hospital is the only Phrase-2 National Clinical Research Base of Chinese Medicine, approved as the only Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao joint laboratory in the field of Chinese medicine—the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao TCM and Immune Disease Research Joint Laboratory in 2020 and the first state laboratory of Chinese medicine in 2021- the State Laboratory of Dampness Syndrome of Chinese Medicine co-sponsored by province and ministry.
We keep inheriting essence, upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground, adhering to the vision of "following the steps of modern medicine, keeping up in management ability, providing the optimized treating methods for patients, and exploring the perfect combined treatment of human beings". At present, there is 1 academician, 2 Masters of Chinese Medicine , 2 National Famous Doctors of Chinese medicine, 1 Specific Scholar of Changjiang Scholars Programme of China, 5 Qihuang Scholars-National Leading Talents Programme of Chinese Medicine, and 41 Guangdong Provincial Famous Doctors of Chinese Medicine. There are 6 nation-level regional diagnosis and treatment centres (specialties) of Chinese medicine , and a group of influential key specialties/disciplines: 6 key clinical specialties of the National Health Commission, 22 key specialties of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and 50 provincial key clinical specialties.
There is the first "Classical Ward of Chinese Medicine" in China in the hospital , as one in the first batch of National Innovative Pilots of Diagnosis and Treatment Models of Chinese Medicine, of which the experiences and approaches are promoted to the whole national system of Chinese medicine; the first Health Construction Administration Centre and the Chronic Disease Management Centre of Chinese medicine in China, formulating a three-level service system : non-disease, pro-disease, and chronic disease. The provincial intangible cultural heritage project “Lingnan Traditional Moxibustion Tianjiu Therapy” and the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage inheritance projects "Lingnan Chen's Acupuncture", are highly sought after by people. The hospital has become the inheritance base of Guangdong intangible cultural heritage project (“Lingnan Traditional Moxibustion Tianjiu Therapy”).
We keep innovating the diagnosis and treatment model of smart hospital, and provide a closed-loop of full-process service-"online + offline" and "in-hospital + out-of-hospital", featuring Chinese medicine . Since 2011, the appointment of all the outpatient registration has been implemented. In 2015, the first smart pharmacy in China was established to provide home-delivery of medicines, shortening the waiting time for patients in hospital and allowing patients to leave hospital within 30 minutes after seeing a doctor. We provide online self-service of check-in and check-out for inpatients. All these approaches have helped improving the patient's medical experience. We actively leverage the industry contribution and rely on our own advantageous resources to establish cooperative hospital relationships with more than 200 hospitals, lead the establishment of 25 specialist medical alliances, and establish a "two-way referral" cooperation model with 42 community health service centres in Guangzhou.
The hospital is committed to scientific and technological innovation. It has State TCM Clinical Research Base, State Key Laboratory of Dampness Syndrome of Chinese Medicine, State Key Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome, Stete Base for International Science & Technology Cooperation, National Clinical Trial Research certre for New Drugs (TCM), National Institute for Stem Cell Clinical Research, and China-Australia International Research certre for Chinese Medicine, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Chinese Medicine Innovation certre and other high-level platforms, as well as 7 key research laboratories and tertiary laboratories of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 1 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory, 3 Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory. It Established China-Sweden Joint Research Base for Chinese medicine with Karolinska Institute and Uppsala University, and carried out various cooperation with Utrecht University in the Netherlands, Chinese University of Hong Kong and other universities to promote Chinese medicine to the world. Since 2007, it has undertaken more than 380 national projects, and won a total of 69 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research achievements.
As the Second Clinical College of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, we offer four undergraduate majors: Chinese Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Orthopedics of Chinese Medicine. Meanwhile, we have 10 second-level disciplines authorized to offer doctorate degree and 28 disciplines authorized to offer master degree. In 2023, there are 2558 students, including 1549 undergraduates, 831 master students and 178 PhD students.
