Laboratory introduction
 
Approved by Guangdong Province in December 2020, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Joint Lab on Chinese Medicine and Immune Disease Research is led by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine) and jointly built by Macau University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Baptist University, University of Macau, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou Yuekang Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. It is the only joint laboratory in the field of Chinese medicine.
 
Research fields
 
Nine main field of immune-related diseases: psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, membranous nephropathy, IgA nephropathy, atopic dermatitis, allergic asthma, non-small cell lung cancer, breast cancer.
 
Focused on six key issues: The theory of "disease-evidence-prescription" combination diagnosis and treatment has not yet been elucidated. The strategy and method of "combination of disease and evidence" are lacking. The evidence of high-quality evidence-based medicine of Chinese medicine compound is insufficient. The basis and mechanism of action of Chinese medicine compound are not clear. The mechanism of drug resistance is unknown. The lack of methods and drugs to overcome drug resistance. And the lack of high-quality original technologies and products that can be transformed and applied.
 
Six major research directions are condensed: The oretical research on "disease-evidence-prescription" in Chinese medicine for immune diseases. Basic research on "objective diagnosis" combined with disease symptoms. Evidence-based medical evaluation of clinical efficacy of Chinese medicine compounds. Research on the basis and mechanism of pharmacodynamic substances of Chinese medicine compounds. Research on drug resistance mechanism and new strategies to overcome drug resistance. Transformation and application of diagnostic kits and innovative Chinese medicines.

Scientific research work

The laboratory has obtained “Inheritance and Innovation Team” of Chinese medicine treatment for refractory autoimmune diseases by the State Administration of Chinese Medicine. Published 87 papers and 71 SCI papers, including 51 papers with an IF of 5.0 or more and 9 papers with an IF of 10.0 or more. Published 7 books of editor-in-chief. Won 3 provincial and ministerial awards. The laboratory has obtained 24 authorized patents, including 2 PCT patents, 21 domestic invention patents and 1 utility model and 4 software copyrights. The laboratory has leading 5 group standards and 4 promulgated standards, including 2 national standards. The laboratory has undertaken 13 national projects and 26 provincial and ministerial projects.
